"A Light in the Darkness"
"Is this it?" she sweetly asked. The instructor pointed a long bony finger at her and opened her mouth to yell at Rini. She then blinked a few times and choked on her words. Rini became momentarily worried the ancient woman was going to have a heart attack or a seizure, then realized that she had answered correctly.
"Rini! you are so WRO....right? You got an answer RIGHT?!? RINI!!! This is WONDERFUL!!!" The woman looked like she was going to keel over any second, but Rini loved the praise she was getting, so she didn't say anything. "You....got...one...right?" the woman gasped. "CLASS IS DISMISSED!!!" The old hag ran down the hallway of the school skipping with joy as if she had discovered some new....discovery!
"What a weird old woman," thought Rini as she looked at the dancing fiend.
"Well Rini, we owe you one! You got us out of school pretty early! It's only 12:45!! Do you want to come swimming?" asked her "kind of" boyfriend Kentaro. She declined, saying she was in a pensive mood that day. Instead, she walked home with her best friend, Nozomi.
"You know Rini, you really need to study more. I bet that was a guess about the treble clef, wasn't it?" asked Nozomi.
"No...well...yeah, it was, but I have more important things to do than study for stupid music exams!" exclaimed the young Moon Princess.
"Like thinking about that mystery boy you saw when you were five? Come on! He was a dream! If you ever see him again, you would surely go into trauma or something! And plus, what about Kentaro! He is a Duke's son, and is worthy of your love!"
"But I don't love him! And plus, he is very...concieted! He only likes me because I have a cute body and a high position in life. I want to find someone who likes me for ME and not my position!!! And by the way! As beautiful as that boy was, if I ever saw him again, he would be quite handsome...with those eyes...so green...like a mile high forest..." As she droned on, she noticed her friend's eyes rolling and added, "But you know why I think you are tired of hearing about him? I believe YOU ARE JEALOUS!!!" And with that statement, she ran down the street of the Takashi High School into town.
"AM NOT!!! AM NOT!!!!!" yelled the cute Nozomi, running after her friend, laughing, her short black hair bobbing behind her.
Unbeknownst to the girls, a young man with cold green eyes was watching them from above the town, following their every move.
"DADDY!!! Can I go out later tonight!?!" yelled the spunky Rini as she hastily got dressed for dinner; she was late again. The handsome Darien was standing in his control room looking at his magical screen. He mumbled something about her taking after her mother and yelled back to ask him at dinner.
Rini, satisfied, knowing that she had him wrapped around her little finger jumped into her most feminine dress. It made out of white iridescent material that clung to her womanly curves. It had low waist that came down in the front just past her hips in a "V", and a low decollete that made her look positively dazzling. She swept her pink hair back into a low ponytail, quite unlike her usual buns and pig-tails. She applied rouge to her lips and white shadow to her eyes. Then she applied mascara. She then grabbed, as a last thought, a diamond tiara her parents gave her for her 14th birthday.
Placing it on her head she thought she looked stunning; stunning enough to get a father to let her go out tonight. She went down and sat at her place at the dinner table. After dinner, and much pleading and doe eyes toward her father, Rini leapt out the door of the castle only to hear her father call her after her."RINI!!!"
Rini, thinking her father changed his mind, turned around slowly, formulating a plan to try and argue her case.
"Rini, dearest...I sense some Negaverse activity. It is very slight, but please be careful. You mean so much to me. Your mother as well. We love you, and if ever anything were to happen to you...Oh Rini, please be careful!" Rini somewhat abashed at her father's display of affection, ran up the steps, kissed him on the cheek, and ran off into the night with some of her friends. "Oh Rini. I fear something terrible will happen, my daughter" whispered Darien to the wind.
Rini, being the active person she is, soon got hot from dancing around and being a teenager. She piled her hair on top of her head, and kept it in place with her tiara. Little did she know, the young man with the cold green eyes was watching her every move, formulating his plan to kidnap her in the name of the Negaverse...or so he said.
What he wouldn't admit, even to his twin, not even to his thirteen year old younger sister, Zoicite, that he was in love with her, ever since his meeting with her, eleven years ago, when he was only seven years old. He watched her every move, every trip, every heartbreak, and because of him, nothing bad had ever befallen her. He was a sort of guardian, fooling the Negaverse, saying he was keeping her safe for them to steal, but really just keeping her safe. His plan was to turn her over. She was once on their side, and he would turn her over and make her his bride.
All to soon he had his chance. Rini was walking Nozomi home. Due to their teenage adrenaline, they weren't watching where they were going and stumbled across a seemingly deserted alley. Thinking it was a short cut, they walked down it, being completely immersed in darkness. Thick strong hands grabbed the girls, and before they could scream, gags were placed in each girl's mouth. Rini had never been more scared in her entire life!
What were these men going to do? Were they going to sell the girls? (There was quite a market for slaves now a days. Rini's parents had pretty much abolished the market, but there was still a few scoundrels who paid much for pretty girls, and many lonely men.) Would they defile them? Rini was about to start crying when suddenly a match was struck by some unseen hand, and came slowly closer, a young man forming with each step he took. He had long bluish/gray hair, and deep emerald eyes, like a deep pool of water, set in a stone worn with millions of years of age. The man spoke.
"Have you boys ever considered your selves men? You wait for young ladies to TRUSTINGLY walk home, try to be quick and take a short cut, only to be captured by your worthlessness! How DARE YOU!" The man's anger rose with each word. " I, MALACHITE OF THE NEGAVERSE, WILL PUNISH YOU!!!!"
The man then formed his hands into cups and blasted at the two men, with the force of his ferocity, his aura. Rini watched with fascination, recognizing the young man. She and Nozomi ducked out of the way and Rini worked her gag out of her mouth. Before the next blast she whispered,
"Believe me nowwwwWWWGAAAAAAAA!!!" One of the men grabbed her as a human shield while Malachite was blasting at him. When he saw what was about to happen, he tried to change the direction of his energy, but was too late. The aura blasted into Rini with full force and she blacked out.
Malachite saw what he did, and ran over to Rini's body. He felt her pulse. "She's....a...ali......alive" he whispered. "She's ALIVE!!!" He almost danced with jubilation. He noticed Nozomi and remembered the two men. He looked up. His eyes glowed with evil, as he was from the Negaverse. He was naturally evil, and his being angry only made him more of a formidable foe. He concentrated his aura into his fingertips, and formed a slow ball, but was careful not to let his aura go too soon.
He looked up and grinned a horrific grin to those men and asked, "What are your last thoughts before you die?" He lashed the aura out so strongly, the men never even had the chance to scream before they dissolved into ash. He then picked up both girls and placed Nozomi on her front door before vanishing into the Negaverse with Rini. Nozomi, instead of going into her house, promptly ran in the direction of the Castle to tell The Royal Couple about the abductation of their daughter.
As she struggled to wake up, Rini realized her eyelids were to heavy for her to keep open, so she laid down in a soft bed she recognized as foreign to her, and listened to the surrounding noises. Since she didn't really hear any, she opened her eyes again, and fought to keep them open. She knew she wasn't in her house, the rooms were to...odd. She, in the castle where she lived, had a beautifully decorated room, with lots of stuffed animals, and a stereo and much entertainment in general.
Here, it was like she was in another world: a beautiful rug, a stereo, a soft bed, with lots of furs, so it was warm, and comfortable. But something was wrong. It was the atmosphere. There was no love, like in her castle. It was like she had slept in a lush prison. It was so cold and unyielding.
Rini got up to investigate the room. She wanted to see everything, and to try and find an overlooked escape. She instead found a sort of wash basin. She dipped her hands in the cool water and washed her face, and attempted to wash her arms and legs. She was in the process of re-applying her makeup when she heard a noise outside her door. Quickly she ran to her bed and jumped in it to pretend she was asleep. The door opened and in walked the man from who saved her before.
"Princess, you are awake. I can read your mind, so don't even try to pretend." Reluctantly, Rini opened her eyes, and looked at him. She walked over to him and mustered all of her courage and grabbed his hand and held it.
"Please let me go. I need to get back to my parents and tell them I am all right. Why am I here, anyway?" The man glanced at her hand and shook it off.
"My name is Kunzite. I am an ambassador for Queen Beryl. You are our...hostage. You will do what we say, or your world will be destroyed."
"Kunzite?" she thought. "Wasn't he once Malachite?" As she pondered the possibility of schizophrenia, another man, identical to the one she was looking at entered the room.
"Kunzite! Why didn't you inform me the Princess was awake?! She is my bounty, there for I have direct control of what happens to her! Next time you will inform me if something significant happens to her!" Kunzite only muttered something about being a foolish man. Then, yet another person walked in. She was a bit younger than Rini and had long flowing orange hair, that was pulled up in a ponytail. She spoke.
"Malachite! Brother, you must take the Princess to Mother and Father. I don't know why, but they want to see her. I guess to make sure she is really the one." Malachite nodded, and asked them to leave the room. Needless to say, Rini was slightly worried, even if Malachite was painfully handsome. As they walked out the door, The girl whispered to Malachite, "Watch yourself. No one trusts you with her." Malachite nodded again. After they left, he chuckled,
"That Zoi! She's my little sister, you know. She is always worried about me..." Then he turned to Rini. "Do you remember eleven years ago when we met ("So he WAS the one!!" Rini thought)? I fell in love with you. I must have you. Join the dark side with me! Become a member of the Negaverse again!!! I need you!!!" With each word, he walked slowly toward her and was quite close to her now. "Rini, don't you see?! We can be so happy together! I LOVE YOU!!!"
With that last exclamation, he pushed her onto the bed. While she was siting there, he grabbed her face and kissed her squarely on the mouth. His kiss had so much emotion. Rini was surprised anything from the Negaverse could have any emotion at all. This kiss was unlike anything she had ever felt. She found herself kissing him back.
"NO!" she thought, as a tear slid down her cheek. "He is from the Negaverse! He isn't good!!! What about Kentaro? Mom and Dad! HELP!!!" But she couldn't break away from the kiss. It was like looking into his soul...his soul? She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer. She couldn't help it. She knew she was in love from the moment he walked into her life eleven years ago.
